ELECTRICIAN

The following position is now bid: Administrative Center – Maintenance – Electrician – 12 Months/8 Hours - Starting at $27.53/hr PRIMARY FUNCTION: Performs skilled electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on District electrical systems, equipment, and related infrastructure to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of District facilities. Provides technical expertise in diagnosing electrical issues, completing repairs, and supporting facility improvement projects while working under the direction of the Director of Facilities. SUPERVISOR: Director of Facilities QUALIFICATIONS: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other district staff regarding work orders, project status, and facility needs Demonstrate reliability, strong attendance, and positive work ethic Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship or vocational training program, or equivalent experience Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a commercial, industrial, or institutional electrician; five (5) years preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach, and climb for extended periods. Ability to safely work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and elevated work platforms. Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights while following established safety procedures. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise, and moisture. Ability to safely perform duties in environments where exposure to dust, insects, and other environmental conditions may occur. Ability to distinguish wire colors and read electrical diagrams, labels, and gauges necessary to safely perform electrical work. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other equipment required to perform assigned duties. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of commercial electrical systems, components, and controls Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, and equipment manuals Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable electrical safety standards Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and install electrical equipment and systems Experience with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems Ability to safely operate electrical testing equipment, meters, hand tools (including pipe benders), and power tools Ability to estimate materials, labor, and costs for maintenance and repair projects Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, contractors, and District staff Ability to document completed work and maintain accurate maintenance records Willingness to learn new skills and procedures related to facility maintenance Ability to prioritize task and adapt to changing work demands ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete assigned work orders accurately and in a timely manner. Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain District electrical systems, equipment, lighting, controls, and related infrastructure. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and building systems. Install, modify, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, outlets, switches, motors, panels, and associated equipment in accordance with applicable codes and District standards. Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and specifications to complete assigned work. Diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate repair methods, including recommending contractor assistance when necessary. Prepare material lists and cost estimates for maintenance and repair projects as assigned. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Safely operate District vehicles, lifts, ladders, testing equipment, and specialized electrical tools. Coordinate electrical work with other maintenance staff, contractors, and District personnel to minimize disruption to school operations. Respond to emergency electrical failures and assist with after-hours call-outs as required. Follow all District safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and National Electrical Code requirements. Assist with general maintenance activities as operational needs require.
