Responsibilities River Vista Behavioral Health sits along the bluffs overlooking the San Joaquin River, this brand new, 128-bed facility, will provide high-quality and advanced behavioral health services to residents and visitors in the Central Valley. The new hospital will employ more than 250 people, including clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration. We are currently seeking a forward thinking and compassionate Registered Dietitian. The Dietitian approves menus including modified diets from the hospital, provides nutritional assessments for patients as needed, and counsels patients and their families on dietary plans, food selections, preparation and nutritional principles. Monitors the performance improvement plans of the Dietary Services department and provides input in the development and implementation of patient care plans in relation to nutritional needs. QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field. Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of dietary experience in a health care facility, with a concentration in nutritional assessment and planning preferred. Licensure: Registered Dietitian (RD) licensure to practice dietetics in the state of California. Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training. CPI Training may be obtained during new hire orientation. - Consult with patients and family members concerning dietary needs and goals.
- Coordinate Dietary Services Department within The Joint Commission standards for food service and assist Food Service Manager/Director as needed.
- Plan modified diets for patients as requested by attending physician/licensed practitioner.
- Monitor and document patients care in regards to therapeutic diets.
- May instruct patients and/or families regarding diet therapy programs.
- Review patients' charts to determine need for nutritional assessments.
- Perform nutritional assessments in a timely manner.
- Plan and execute monthly in-services for dietary and food service employees.
- Conduct monthly inspections of the Dietary Services Department.
- Provide guidance to Food Service Manager/Director and other food service staff as needed.
- Consider the implications of the aging process in the provision of nutrition.
- Document patient charts with nutritional planning, and update as changes in nutritional needs occur.
- Communicate patient special nutritional needs to the Food Service Manager/Director in a timely fashion.
- May inspect meal assembly to ensure trays conform to prescribed diet and meet standards.
- Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
- Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
- Adhere to facility standards concerning conduct, dress, attendance and punctuality.
- Support facility-wide quality/performance improvement goals and objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.

- Knowledge of all facets of nutritional and dietary planning.
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission Standards.
- Knowledge of the unique dietary needs of various age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric.)
- Knowledge of nutritional menu planning and skill in interpreting and applying this knowledge to
patients' needs. - Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
- Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Visual acuity is needed for accurate reading of patient's charts.
- Ability to stand or walk up to six hours and sit up to two hours.
- Ability to frequently lift or carry up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height.
- Ability to distinguish colors, speak and hear in order to facilitate patient contact.
