Production Editor (Remote)
Job Type: Contract (3 Months+)
Location: Remote, but must be physically based in Massachusetts, Rhode Island or New Hampshire for consideration
Pay Rate: $24-$26/hour (flexible based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Production Editor to support the development and production of educational materials. This role focuses on ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established style and formatting guidelines across print and digital content.
This assignment is expected to continue through January, with potential for extension based on workload and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform production editing, ensuring consistency and adherence to style guidelines
- Copy match content between databases and output across multiple formats
- Conduct quality control reviews of forms, manuals, and related materials using established checklists
- Verify consistency of content and language across documents
- Review revisions and validate implemented changes
- Check printer proofs for accuracy
- Review text-to-speech output and identify errors
- Correct text-to-speech issues when appropriate
- Work within Adobe applications and proprietary online platforms
- Assist with additional editorial and quality assurance tasks as needed
Schedule
- Typical hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
- One-hour lunch break
- Flexible scheduling accommodations available
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines
- Must be responsive to email and virtual communication tools in a fast-paced environment
Team Environment
- Collaborative, supportive editorial team
- Direct interaction with managers and staff editors
- Work may be distributed across multiple projects to maintain full utilization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; English or related discipline preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat or electronic editing tools
- Ability to learn new databases and online platforms quickly
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Skills
- Editorial quality control experience
- Experience reviewing print and digital educational materials
- Strong proofreading and copyediting abilities
- Comfort working independently with minimal supervision
