Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Exciting contract opportunity available for a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse to support a student with a newly placed tracheostomy in a school-based setting. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of the student by providing 1:1 nursing care throughout the school day. Ideally, candidates will have a background in tracheostomy care and an eagerness to make a direct impact in the educational setting.

This assignment offers flexibility, as coverage is needed for both the Extended School Year (ESY) during the summer (July 6–August 14), as well as throughout the regular school year (starting September 8). If summer availability isn’t possible, candidates may start in the fall.

What we’re looking for:

• Active RN license in New York State
• Experience in a school nursing role or with pediatric populations preferred
• Tracheostomy care experience is strongly desired
• Ability and willingness to provide attentive 1:1 nursing care to a student during all school hours
• Training in emergency interventions for respiratory needs
• Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills with educational staff and families
• Reliable and able to commit to scheduled summer and/or school year dates

You’ll be responsible for:

• Monitoring and responding to the student’s tracheostomy and respiratory needs
• Administering medications, treatments, and other nursing services as required
• Documenting daily care and communicating changes in the student’s status
• Collaborating with school and medical staff to support the student’s educational experience
