Lead Behavioral Health Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Behavioral Health Clinician/Therapist will provide individual and family therapy to clients; lead and support case managers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE CLINICAL SERVICES PROGRAM:

• Provide individual, family, and group therapy to clients
• Support the Program Manager in recruiting, interviews, and recommending new staff case managers as needed
• Review and assure clinical case managers meet SCC and CCS, and state ethical, documentation program guidelines and requirements
• Provide coaching and support to case managers, and mentor them in timely, accurate case documentation, interventions with medical necessity, client engagement, and time management.
• Monitor the required monthly productivity for Case Managers.
• Work closely with the Program Manager and the Sr. Director of BH
• Maintain documentation in the data system per Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Division and Catholic Charities standards.
• Work with clients dealing with trauma, behavioral and mental health issues, dual diagnosis or addictions, and adults with cognitive and other disabilities.
• Provide appropriate community resources and consult with the client regarding those resources to help them accomplish their goals.
• Provide individual, couples, and family therapy to adults, children, and families.
• Crisis intervention and safety plan development with the client.
• Collaborate with the case manager, schools, and other agencies for additional resources.
• Conduct intake and assessment, create treatment plans, diagnose, and document according to DSM V-TR
• Engage clients using evidence-based practices, Trauma-Informed CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to reduce trauma symptoms and provide coping skills to improve family functioning.
• Attend all necessary staff meetings to facilitate coordination and collaboration in client services.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Maintain a minimum caseload of 10-12 cases to manage expected productivity each month
• Meet with clients at a minimum of a weekly basis, in-person/telephone, and telehealth
• Provide community-based services for sessions and assistance as needed
• Must meet a minimum standard of 70-80 total hours of productivity per month
• Complete all progress notes within three business days of service
• Attend all program-related required trainings
• Attend weekly individual supervision and weekly team meetings

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• • Graduate degree in MSW, MA, or MS in counseling, psychology, or a related field
  • Bilingual Spanish/English, Vietnamese-preferred
  • Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) registration as MFT Intern, ASW, APCC Intern, or LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, licensed psychologist, or psychological associate registered with the Board of Psychology (BOP).
  • Counseling experience in a community-based setting
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and training of DSM V-TR
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese preferred
  • Understanding of and sensitivity toward economic and cultural issues in diverse communities
  • Demonstrated computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, and Internet usage)
  • Ability to pass certification requirements for CANS or ANSA assessment 90 days of hire (training and support will be provided)
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, strength-based, and motivational interviewing skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, e.g., evening until 7:00 pm, and Saturdays.
  • Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Criminal background check via Livescan fingerprint.
• Must have TB test performed and submit results.
• Automobile, valid driver’s license and auto insurance per agency policy; or access to reliable transportation to meet with clients if necessary.

HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:

• Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m
• This is a full-time, exempt position. Availability to work flexible hours may be needed based on client services (i.e. working evenings until 7:00 pm, and/or working weekends).

MANDATED REPORTER STATUS

This position requires you to work with children, and your profession qualifies you as "mandated reporters" of child abuse or neglect, which is found in California Penal Code Section 11165.7. You are required to report suspected cases of abuse and neglect pursuant to California Penal Code Section 11166.5.
