Head Boys Soccer Coach

Qualifications Has the ability to organize and supervise a school sports program. Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (Major sports). The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport. Must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field. Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions. Reports to the athletic director and collaborates with high school principals. Supervises assistant coaches and middle school coaches under the athletic director and respective principals. Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. Instills socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment. Upgrades knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations. Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances, and works to increase morale and cooperation. Job Goal To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success, while modeling behaviors that promote character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride. General The success of athletic programs strongly influences the community’s image. Public exposure is a considerable responsibility, and community/parent pressure for winning performance must not override sportsmanship and mental health objectives. Staff Responsibilities Develops the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques for staff instruction. Plans conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure program awareness. Encourages professional growth by promoting clinic attendance according to local policy. Delegates duties, supervises implementation, analyzes season effectiveness, and evaluates assistants. Administrative Duties Assists the athletic director with scheduling, transportation, and tournament requirements. Prepares for sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees. Documents state and system requirements: physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility. Provides safeguards for equipment and recommends policy or procedural changes. Student Responsibilities Mentors athletes, promoting trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Monitors students’ grades and conduct. Provides guidance and safeguards at all practices, games, and travel. Communicates training rules and unique sport regulations to participants. Initiates injury, medical, and emergency policies; submits injury paperwork within 24 hours. Directs student managers, assistants, and statisticians and enforces discipline with due‑process procedures. Assists athletes with college and advanced education selection. Finance and Equipment Participates in budgeting with the athletic director, establishing equipment requirements. Recommends equipment guidelines and operates within budgetary appropriations. Accounts for all equipment, collects costs for lost or unreturned items, and manages inventory records. Organizes, stores, and reconditions equipment, maintaining proper identification and access control. Ensures cleanliness and maintenance of locker rooms, equipment rooms, and sports facilities. Public Relations Organizes preseason meetings with parents, coaches, players, and guests. Promotes the sport through recruiting, media outreach, little league programs, and other avenues. Handles quality of oral and written releases to local media. Maintains good relations with media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
