RNFA Travel Job Details

• Location: Orange, California 92868
• Assignment Type: 13-week operating room travel contract
• Assignment Dates: January 4, 2027 – April 5, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,820–$3,030
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Primary Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts, approximately 12:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.
• Alternative Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts may be considered
• Orientation: Approximately 40 hours
• Charting System: Epic
• Call: Required; see scheduling expectations below

Registered Nurse First Assistant Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in California or a compact RN license in hand at submission
• CRNFA certification and current BLS certification
• At least 3 years of operating room nursing experience with both scrubbing and circulating
• At least 1 year of experience in transplant and extensive cardiovascular surgery; this experience is required
• Strong proficiency with robotics, bariatric, general, colorectal, orthopedic/spine, vascular, urology, gynecology, transplant, and cardiovascular procedures
• Ability to support complex cases such as CABG, valve procedures, vascular repairs, EVAR/TEVAR, organ transplant, and other advanced surgical services
• Proficiency with surgical counts, sterile technique, and collaboration with the circulating nurse
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the last three years
• Flexibility to float to nearby sister locations when assignment needs require

Operating Room RNFA Responsibilities

• Function as a Registered Nurse First Assistant in the operating room while delivering safe, precise, and patient-centered perioperative care
• Scrub and circulate for a broad range of surgical procedures across cardiovascular, transplant, general, robotic, bariatric, colorectal, orthopedic/spine, vascular, urologic, and gynecologic specialties
• Assist surgeons during complex procedures within RNFA scope and established protocols
• Maintain sterile technique, anticipate procedural needs, and support efficient room turnover and case flow
• Perform and verify surgical counts in collaboration with the circulating nurse
• Work closely with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, nurses, and other perioperative team members to promote excellent outcomes
• Document perioperative care accurately in Epic and follow applicable clinical and safety standards

RNFA Call and Scheduling Expectations

• Approximately 8 call days are anticipated during each 6-week schedule, with call distributed evenly among RNFAs
• Kidney call: Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 a.m.
• Weekend general call: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Holiday general call: 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; kidney call is not scheduled on holidays
• Availability to work 3 of 5 designated holidays may be required
• Submit requested time off and scheduling needs before the assignment is finalized
