Facility: GSS & Lakota Ctr Location: Lakota, ND Address: 608 4th Ave SW, Lakota, ND 58344, USA Shift: Varies Job Schedule: PRN Weekly Hours: Varies Job Summary The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as a caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. The MA delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the plan of care, assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital signs, and providing psycho-social support. The MA may also assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using proper transfer techniques and equipment, provide range-of-motion and passive exercises, prepare food, support mealtime activities, administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse, document outcomes related to resident care, and communicate changes to the charge nurse. Additional duties include collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens, housekeeping and laundry assistance, facilitating wellness and recreational programs, and participating in departmental or organization committees as needed. Qualifications High school graduate or GED (preferred but not required) Minimum age of 18 preferred Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred Annual competency testing and continuation of education credits (minimum 12 hours annually) Maintenance of all department-specific certifications Valid driver's license and auto insurance may be required when applicable Certification Requirements Iowa: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with State Board of Nursing; completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course upon obtaining CNA. Minnesota: Nursing assistant certification with 75‑hour course, registered with Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, and completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course. North Dakota: Certified Nursing Assistant with State Board of Nursing; completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course upon obtaining CNA. Medication Assistant I required for Assisted Living or Basic Care; Medication Assistant II required for skilled nursing. South Dakota: Completion of state-approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course and ongoing CMA certification. All Good Samaritan and Sanford nursing facilities: required state-certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA) and active certified nursing assistant registration in state of practice, or ability to obtain within 120 days.
