Heating, Air-Condition and Refrigeration Technology Lab Assistant: Role:

Provides technical assistance to students in classroom and laboratory settings and assists with instruction according to established policies and procedures under the supervision of the HVAC instructor.

This is a part-time position with a pay rate of $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities: ●

60%

Provides group instruction and one-on-one tutoring; communicates and explains familiar and new concepts to students with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of HVAC knowledge and technical skills. Assists students with understanding HVAC systems, electrical controls, refrigeration principles, troubleshooting procedures, safety practices, and industry standards. ●

Assists students in the proper use of HVAC laboratory equipment, tools, instruments, and training systems. Supports laboratory exercises involving heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, electrical diagnostics, brazing, system installation, preventive maintenance, and equipment troubleshooting. Ensures students follow safety procedures and proper equipment operation guidelines. ●

Maintains the HVAC laboratory in a clean, safe, and organized condition. Assists with inventory, organization, storage, and maintenance of tools, equipment, materials, and supplies used in laboratory activities.

Demonstrates knowledge of HVAC industry practices and promotes safe work habits in laboratory and classroom settings. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. One year of work experience in the HVAC industry or an HVAC degree/certificate required. EPA Section 608 Certification preferred. Previous experience as a teacher, tutor, lab assistant, or trainer is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration principles, electrical controls, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices. This position is considered a security-sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.
