Position Summary

The Dining Room Supervisor serves as the primary Food & Beverage contact until management arrives and provides hands-on support across the dining room and service areas. This position helps ensure staffing, dining room presentation, service standards, and daily operations are consistently maintained.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the primary Food & Beverage contact during assigned shifts and carry the Food & Beverage phone as needed.
• Verify staff schedules, monitor staffing levels, and coordinate coverage for call-outs or staffing gaps.
• Oversee the appearance and readiness of the dining room, including tables, place settings, chairs, floors, lighting, and server stations.
• Coordinate resident and guest seating in an efficient and courteous manner.
• Assign server stations and work responsibilities to ensure appropriate coverage and service standards.
• Record meal counts, reservations, and additional charges using the POS system.
• Communicate dining room, staffing, food, and service concerns to the Dining Room Manager, Executive Chef, and Director of Food & Beverage.
• Conduct morning rounds of the Market, Dietary, and Kitchen areas to assess staffing and operational needs.
• Provide coffee service for resident events and Administration as needed.
• Provide table, beverage, and bar service when additional coverage is needed.
• Maintain cross-training in Dietary operations and provide support as needed.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Food & Beverage Director.
• Assist with food and beverage inventory and cost-control efforts.
• Attend required in-service training and education sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Host/Hostess, Lead Server, or similar role in a fine dining restaurant, club, hotel, senior living, or hospitality environment.
• Availability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, with availability between 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
• Strong knowledge of dining service and the ability to explain menu items, answer questions, and coordinate meal service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work respectfully and effectively with residents, families, guests, coworkers, and leadership.
• Professional, courteous, and service-oriented approach with the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and respond appropriately to resident and guest needs.
• Current state-required health and/or alcohol compliance certification, as applicable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to frequently talk and listen in order to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
• Ability to climb, reach, bend, stoop, twist, and move throughout the community as needed.
• Medium work: Ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to see sufficiently to read and write, administer or assist with medications as directed, and visually interact with residents, families, and team members.
• Ability to hear and speak sufficiently to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
• Ability to safely move throughout the community and perform duties in a fast-paced senior living environment.
