Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) in a healthcare setting focusing on pediatric and critical care patients. The role involves providing basic and advanced respiratory care services to adult and geriatric patients, with particular emphasis on neonatal intensive care and pediatric respiratory needs. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as supervise delegated tasks, ensuring high-quality care in accordance with departmental policies.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shift, 12-hour shift hours, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or equivalent; preferred Masters Degree. Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of practice; required in CA. CPR or BLS certification; required. ACLS certification; required. NRP certification; required. PALS certification; required. BLS certification from approved vendor; required. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor; required.
• Preferred Qualifications: NICU/OB and recent level 2 nursery experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience, including critical care and level 2 nursery.
• Essential Functions: Assessing and documenting prescribed therapy; administering aerosol and oxygen treatments; drawing arterial blood gases; providing care to ventilator patients; assisting in department record keeping and staff training; documenting care and generating required records; instructing nursing personnel; performing pulmonary function tests, drainage procedures, and patient care related to cardio-respiratory disease; providing patient and family education; making rounds to check respiratory therapy equipment; ensuring compliance with ventilator and VAP bundle protocols; updating diagnoses; assisting with equipment maintenance and special procedures; and performing other related duties as assigned.
