This is a full-time position with 8-hour shifts Monday-Friday (7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.) and a 24-hour call schedule that is split amongst OR team members.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Uses the nursing process, critical thinking skills, professional judgment, and the attributes of Careful Nursing to provide care for an assigned population of patients.Assesses patient needs to determine care requirements.Plans care and delegates tasks to ancillary personnel based on patient assessment.Evaluates patient response to care provided and makes changes in plan for care as needed.Promotes patient/family independence through provision of education related to patient's condition, treatment, medications and on-going self-care requirementsParticipates in the professional advancement system by maintaining skills at a Level I status.Demonstrates awareness of organizational values, mission and philosophy through interactions with physicians, patients and peers.Demonstrates basic ability to apply the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation).Completes unit orientation within stated time frame.Functions independently within established protocols, policies and procedures.Seeks appropriate resources in a timely fashion.Demonstrates basic unit specific competencies.Meets productivity and quality standards for unit - able to care for an average workload.Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication skills.Plans and demonstrates appropriate delegation of duties and follow-up.Participates and documents client specific teaching and discharge planning.Gives clear, concise report (shift, transfer, discharge etc.).Provides clear, concise legible documentation.Assumes responsibility for professional education and development.Completes mandatory in-service requirements.Completes at least 8 hours of continuing education in addition to mandatory requirements within the last year that is specific to daily clinical practice.Verbalizes an understanding of the committee structure and function in the Department of Nursing and at the unit level.Staff nurses in the ER are required to obtain 8 hours of pediatric emergency/critical care continuing education hours every two years.Coordinates discharge planning by identifying discharge needs, implementing/revising and communicating plan in collaboration with the patient/family/significant others.Discusses patient progress, problems and needs with physician and multidisciplinary team members on a regular basis to ensure that goals for discharge are met.Assures high levels of quality of care through compliance with regulatory standards, reference to current research related to patient care outcome and participation in the data collection and analysis process of ongoing quality monitoring.Uses supplies in a cost effective and efficient manner, and works with the management team to make unit supply level adjustments, additions and revisions.Additional Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsures that care is provided for all patients utilizing the attributes of Careful Nursing.Trustworthy collaborationHealth educationPerfect skill in fostering safety and comfortParticipatory – authoritative managementCarries out other duties related to patient care and unit operations as assigned.Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.Current RN License in the State of Illinois required.Completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Course within one (1) year of hire in intensive care, telemetry, Labor & Delivery, Stroke Unit, ED.Current CPR certification required.ACLS certification preferred, required within first year of Intensive Care, Telemetry, ED, GI Lab, SDS, PACU.PALS certification required within first year for ED, Pediatrics, PACU.NRP certification required within the first year for Special Care Nursery.Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients.Knowledge of patients' growth and development needs.Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties.3 years of OR Nursing experience.Ability to work variable hours.Experience in spine, ortho and robotic surgeries.Have a good knowledge of inventory and supplies in the operating room.Job Type-Full-time Benefits:401(K)401(K) matching (4%)Dental insuranceHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offVision insuranceMedical Specialties:SurgeryPhysical Setting:Operating RoomLicense/Certification:BLS and ACLS CertificationRN License (Required)Benefits:Paid Sick Time - effective 90 days after employmentPaid Vacation Time - effective 90 days after employmentHealth, vision & dental benefits - eligible at 30 days, following the 1st of the following monthShort and long-term disability and basic life insurance - after 30 days of employmentInsight Employees are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to accommodation for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
