Information Security Officer

Salary: $142,601.35 - 177,947.6 per year Requirements:

• We require 4 years of experience in IT, cybersecurity, and leadership roles.
• We require a bachelors degree, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
• We need a strong understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, including trends, risks, and risk management best practices.
• We expect proficiency with IT infrastructure and a range of cybersecurity tools and platforms.
• We look for the ability to communicate security topics effectively to varied audiences.
• We require sound analytical and problem-solving abilities, including quick decision-making in emergency situations.
• We value experience in operational technology environments and securing OT systems.
• We require experience with security audits and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• We expect strong ethical standards and a clear understanding of privacy laws and confidential information handling.
• We prefer relevant professional certifications, or active progress toward them, such as GCIH/GSEC, CISM, CISA, CISSP, or CRISC.

• We coordinate with university departments, schools, and units to define and enforce cybersecurity requirements and strengthen resilience.
• We support the development, implementation, and upkeep of cybersecurity standards and procedures.
• We help harden departmental information systems to reduce the risk of unauthorized access and attacks.
• We assess control effectiveness and conduct regular risk evaluations.
• We assist with cyber emergency procedures, including incident response, data breach handling, and other critical events.
• We contribute to investigations and response efforts for security incidents as needed.
• We participate in training and awareness initiatives to promote cybersecurity understanding and compliance.
• We maintain current knowledge of relevant cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies.
• We foster a respectful workplace culture aligned with our Code of Ethics.
• We maintain relationships between departments, schools, units, and central cybersecurity leadership.
• We drive awareness and completion of cybersecurity initiatives across the university.
