Job Summary/Company : Our client is looking for an experienced Radio Communications Technician/Manager. This position is fully onsite and will be contract to hire (6 months as a contractor before converting to City payroll). The selected individual will be both a manager as well as a hands-on technician

Responsibilities :
  • Performs difficult professional and administrative work in planning, organizing and directing the City's radio communications networks, activities and services.
  • Work involves sound engineering development, implementation and operation of digital microwave, radio, two-way radio, public safety radio communications systems and commercial communications circuits.
  • Manages program budget.
  • Manages day-to-day operation and maintenance of microwave radio and two-way radio communications services and activities.
  • Plans introduction of new systems and training of affected employees.
  • Performs strategic and tactical planning for County microwave radio and two-way radio needs.
  • Provides technical and professional consultation on microwave radio and two-way radio matters to City management staff.
  • Represents the City and its installation before the Federal Communication Commission and regional telecommunications planning groups; obtains regional, federal and state grants for funding projects.
Qualifications/Background Profile :
  • Graduation from high school, supplemented by vocational course work in computers, electronics, or a related field, and 3 years of experience in communications engineering work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
  • Extensive experience with Motorola wireless / radio communications equipment
  • Experience working with public safety (fire, or police, or 911, etc.)
