$23 - $30 per hourBoys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro
Title: Kinder Care Coordinator Organization: Boys and Girls Clubs of San Leandro Location: Guy Emanuele (100 Decoto Road, Union City) Department: Programming Reports to: Program Manager Direct Reports: Kinder Youth Development Professionals (TK/K-YDPs) Exempt Status: Non-Exempt Position Type: Full Time, On-Site Compensation: $23-$30/hr Position Overview The KinderCare Coordinator (KCC) leads the Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten (TK/K) program for children ages 3-6, creating a safe, engaging, and enriching space where young learners can grow. This role ensures that every child’s experience is joyful, developmentally appropriate, and supports their early learning journey. By guiding and inspiring the Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) on their team, the KCC helps shape a high-quality program that fosters curiosity, confidence, and connection. The KCC plays a key role in advancing our organization’s mission by ensuring young children receive thoughtful care and intentional learning experiences in their critical early years. Through strong leadership and collaboration, they support staff, work alongside teachers, and cultivate an environment where children feel secure, valued, and excited to learn. What makes this role unique is its blend of leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on impact with young children. The KCC is not just managing a program—they are building a foundation for lifelong learning by empowering both students and staff to thrive. Our Values In Action Transformative Leadership: We aspire to transform possibilities into probabilities. By embodying emotional intelligence, vulnerability, and empathy, we foster positive change with humility, authenticity, and continuous self‑improvement. What that looks like in this role: Empowering YDPs through clear guidance, support, and encouragement. Leading with empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence to foster a positive team culture. Building strong relationships with teachers, families, and staff to create a unified program. Communicating clearly and transparently, ensuring alignment on expectations and goals. Resilience: We approach every situation with a growth mindset, demonstrating flexibility and courage, reframing challenges as opportunities. We acknowledge our current state, embrace change, and adapt as needed, maintaining a solutions‑oriented approach throughout our growth journey. What that looks like in this role: Adapting quickly to challenges while maintaining program quality. Approaching obstacles with a growth mindset and a solutions‑focused attitude. Supporting staff through challenges, providing guidance and encouragement. Fostering a supportive, team‑first culture, ensuring YDPs feel valued and motivated. Youth Centered Approach: Every organizational action or maneuver is designed to directly impact and benefit the youth we serve. We value and prioritize the youth perspective, making decisions with a focus on their needs and well‑being, rather than adult convenience. What that looks like in this role: Designing activities that are engaging, age‑appropriate, and enriching. Listening to and incorporating children’s voices in program decisions. Creating an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for all children. Cultivating a positive and rewarding space where children thrive. Essential Functions Leadership & Staff Development – Guide and support Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) in delivering a high‑quality TK/K program through training, coaching, and ongoing feedback. Early Childhood Development Outcomes – Monitor each child’s progress toward TK/K early childhood development milestones through structured learning and play. After‑School Program Support – Assist in the broader after‑school program implementation as needed to strengthen overall program quality and success. Safety & Emergency Preparedness – Implement and oversee emergency procedures, safety drills, and compliance requirements to maintain a secure and well‑regulated environment. Incident Documentation & Compliance – Support and document incident investigations, maintain safety records, and ensure adherence to reporting and compliance requirements. Professional Development & Best Practices – Attend meetings and training to stay current on early childhood education best practices, integrating new approaches to improve program effectiveness. Child Progress Monitoring & Assessment – Track children’s development through observations and assessments, using data to inform and enhance learning experiences.
