About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: CFH OR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 hours, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, day off TBD; on call rotation Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience; CVOR experience required; Trauma 1 experience highly preferred License: State RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Assoc.) Must-Have: CVOR experience Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes the initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand the knowledge base. Identifies own learning needs and takes the initiative to begin appropriate solutions. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Prepares the OR Suite for the patient i.e., supplies, equipment, medications, and other needs. Interviews the patient by utilizing the two identifiers (name and birthdate). Transports the patient to the appropriate OR Suite and onto the OR table using safety precautions. Performs timeouts upon entry of the suite, prior to incision, and prior to exiting the OR suite. Appropriately positions and preps the patient for the procedure utilizing positional aides and guidelines. Supports the surgical team during the procedure by responding to requests from the team for extra supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, medications, dressings, etc. Transports the patient to the PACU or specific unit and provides handoff to the receiving RN.
