Chief Financial Officer

Our client, Meyers, Roman, Friedberg & Lewis, a respected and versatile law firm in Cleveland, Ohio, is seeking a Chief Financial & Operating Officer (CFO/COO) to serve as a key member of the firm’s leadership team, overseeing the business, financial, and operational engine of a dynamic law firm. This role ensures the firm’s strategy is financially sound, operationally effective, and positioned for sustained growth. The CFO/COO brings clarity to complexity - turning real-time data into insight and goals into execution. This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who thrives in environments where impact matters.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Partner and Executive Committee to execute the firm’s documented 1-, 3-, and 5-year business goals through disciplined planning and operational leadership.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and KPI-driven analysis across billable hours, revenue, collections, A/R aging, utilization, and profitability—using data to spotlight growth opportunities.
• Oversee firm infrastructure, including technology, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, facilities, leases, vendors, and major growth initiatives such as acquisitions or office build-outs.
• Manage vendor relationships and lead a team of accounting professionals, ensuring strong performance, accountability, and scalability.

Qualifications

• Holding a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Approximately 12+ years of progressive leadership experience across finance and operations.
• Strong analytical skills, adept at processing large volumes of data to inform decisions and solve complex problems.
• Proven ability to grow organizations, manage strong personalities, and present multiple solution paths with sound judgment and flexibility.
• Law firm experience is a plus, along with hands‑on fluency in Excel (advanced reporting and pivot tables), QuickBooks, CLIO, and NetDocuments.
