Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health RN for an adult forensic/intensive psychiatric unit, requiring recent forensic experience and a VT or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Adult forensic and intensive behavioral health inpatient unit
• Day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Possible on-call responsibilities
• Must be willing to float to other units and take charge shifts as needed
• Work may involve caring for patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
• Assignment may include work at alternative locations within 30 miles of the primary site
• Expected to provide complex nursing care for adults with psychiatric and co-occurring substance use disorders
• Responsible for clinical supervision of Mental Health Workers to ensure therapeutic and safe care
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position
• RTO requests are limited to 7 days
• Housing may be available through company with additional rental agreement and cost responsibility
• Candidates living within 35 miles are subject to a rate decrease
• Must be willing to makeup missed shifts before contract ends

Requirements

• Active VT or compact RN license required before start date
• Minimum of 5 years RN experience with recent inpatient psychiatric and forensic experience within the last 3 months
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Behavioral health or psychiatric skills checklist completed within the last year
• Credentials must reflect age groups and forensic/intensive psych experience
• Must be able to supervise Mental Health Workers in a clinical setting
• Must be willing to obtain CPI if not currently certified (will be completed onsite if needed)
