Receiving Operator

Bulk Rail Receiving Operator The primary role of the Receiving Operator is to safely and efficiently test, collect, sample, and unload all incoming bulk raw ingredients. Responsibilities include training other Receiving Operators and supporting the manufacturing of high‑quality pet food that meets or exceeds all specifications set by Mars Pet Care US. Key Responsibilities Testing, collecting, unloading, and sampling all incoming raw materials. Communicating and escalating any quality and food safety concerns to site management. Executing major bin strategy. Operating heavy machinery such as a forklift and track‑mobile. Maintaining a safe and clean work environment to promote associate safety and product integrity, including wet and dry receiving area sanitation. Performing additional duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Assisting with receiving functions as needed and available. Participating in site safety programs and actively seeking ways to improve site and area safety. Other similar duties as assigned. Physical/Environmental Requirements Not afraid of heights and capable of working at elevated heights. Not sensitive to chemicals. Vision correctable to 20/20. Ability to stand on a concrete floor for long periods. Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, uniform, etc.). Performing bending, stooping, twisting, turning, standing for extended periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 55 lbs. Adapting to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust, dirt, and chemicals. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision. Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and frequent on/off operations. Minimum Qualifications Be 18 years of age or older. Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent education. Basic knowledge of personal computers and competency in software including MS Office and email. Willing and able to work rotating schedules. Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English. High mechanical aptitude and knowledge with good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Most recent performance appraisal with a minimum of “Meets” expectations and not more than 1 year old. No active disciplinary notices. Acceptable attendance (less than 5 incidents and no discipline above an Initial Warning). Desired Education High school diploma and 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
