Job Description Assist dentists during examination and treatment of patients. Schedule 40 hours/week (Mon-Fri) 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM AND one Sunday a month Onsite at Bristol County Jail, N. Dartmouth, MA Rate $25/hr. Responsibilities Provide direct assistance by keeping operating field clear, passing instruments and suctioning. Sterilize instruments in the dental office. Responsible for mixing of restorative materials. Assist in taking intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays. Develop and mount x-ray films. Perform intra-oral tasks as defined by law. Ensure that there are a sufficient number of trays set up for the day’s patients: pulpotomy, caries control, amalgam, perio/scaling. Maintain x-ray unit, processor, autoclave and dental units according to specifications. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of dental clinic by cleaning the area daily and sanitizing the area weekly. Take inventory of supplies and equipment to maintain sufficient levels. Order supplies and equipment as needed with approval of the dentist. It is an essential part of the job that CPS can ask the employee to work beyond his/her regularly scheduled hours. Follow all security rules and regulations. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Requirements Minimum of 1 year experience as a dental assistant. CPR certification required Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds. Be able to perform CPS if needed Benefits Comprehensive training on correctional health to all new hires.
