Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.What You Will Do:The Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) organization is seeking a motivated, self-starting engineer to join our Engine Life Management Team (ELMT) at the Delta TechOps facility in Atlanta, Georgia supporting the maturation of the Next Generation Product Family (NGPF) fleet. In this role you will play a crucial part in supporting critical engineering activities within the Geared Turbofan (GTF) Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) environment.Primary activities in this position include regular participation in engine teardown investigations, hardware distress data collection and trending, and return-to-service activities for non-conforming hardware.This role will allow you to serve not only as an onsite extension of the cognizant Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs), providing them with critical engineering data, but also effectively act as an engineering liaison for the entire organization, representing Pratt & Whitney Engineering at a key customer site within the global GTF Network.Work closely with IPT members and regulatory authorities on hardware field investigations to drive root cause determination and recommend product improvementsProactively monitor, characterize, and trend part condition data in support of durability, safety, limits expansion, and repair activitiesInterface with Engine Centers in Atlanta, GA, Columbus, GA, and West Palm Beach, FL to better understand non-conformances and receive required distress characterization.Interpret OEM and aftermarket engineering data such as engineering drawings, MRO manuals, and field history to understand original design with intent of creating technical data used to return non-conforming hardware back to service.Apply mechanical design principles to complete tolerance stack-ups, balance calculations, bearing area, thread shear capability, and others.Establish validation substantiation requirements for technical dialog or engineering authorizationsObtain internal technical approvals from structures, CIPT design, materials, or Aero.Additionally secure FAA regulatory approval and coordinate with the end user.Continuously develop or improve design processes and Engineering Standard WorkInterface with engine center staff, project engineering, and program management to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues.Cultivate relationships with shop floor inspectors, powerplant engineers, and production engineers to improve customer experience.Support Engineering organizations as an On-Site representative for the various CIPTsProvide technical support to engine center operations through interpretation of technical data and communication of special engineering requestsSupport engineering goals of improving Flight Safety, reducing Aircraft on Ground (AOG) occurrences, improving the GTF product, and maturing the PW1000G MRO networkWhat You Will Learn:This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with engine run hardware and the assembly and disassembly processes.
