We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join a growing team for an organization that deeply supports the community. This contract to hire opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who brings strong knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entries, and financial processes. The person in this role will support core accounting operations, help maintain accurate financial records, and contribute to timely reporting and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances to maintain reliable financial data.

• Assist with corporate tax activities, including supporting the preparation of filings and related documentation.

• Manage sales tax reporting requirements and help ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

• Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with internal standards.

• Support month-end and year-end close activities by organizing financial information and resolving discrepancies.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather accounting data and improve the efficiency of reporting processes.

• At least 5 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.

• Hands-on experience with general ledger maintenance and journal entry preparation.

• Proficient knowledge of Excel. Business Central experience is a bonus

• Experience handling sales tax processes and related compliance tasks.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies.

• Proficiency in standard accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
