About the role

El Toro has been serving Texas Tex-Mex since 1960. Our Palestine location is a busy, well-known hometown restaurant on Loop 256 — homemade tortillas, full bar, loyal regulars, families, and weekend traffic.

We need a General Manager who can run the building like it is theirs. The current manager has given a 3-month notice, so this is a planned handoff, not a fire drill. You will have time to learn the store, the team, and the numbers before you take the keys.

This is not a corporate cookie-cutter job. You will have real authority, support from ownership, and a chance to build a stable team in a community that already knows and likes El Toro.

What you will own

• Full store leadership: FOH, BOH, bar, and managers
• Guest experience, food quality, and cleanliness every shift
• Hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and holding the team accountable
• Labor, food cost, inventory, cash handling, and weekly/period numbers
• Texas compliance: food safety, TABC, and company standards
• Working the floor when it counts — nights, weekends, and busy periods
• Building a culture people want to stay in, not just clock into

Who this is for

• 3+ years of restaurant management (GM or strong assistant/manager who is ready to run a store)
• Full-service experience preferred (Tex-Mex, casual dining, or high-volume independent is a plus)
• Comfortable running both the dining room and the business side
• Hands-on leader who can hire, train, and keep standards without drama
• Food Manager / ServSafe and TABC (or able to get them quickly)
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus, not required
• Reliable transportation and ability to work the hours a restaurant actually runs
