Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Cardiopulmonary Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience Required License: WI Respiratory Care Practitioner license Certifications: RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) with The National Board for Respiratory Care Must-Have: AHA Provider Level BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Description: Respiratory Therapist needed for 36 hours/week, working three 12-hour shifts. Every other weekend and rotating holiday schedule. Shift start time is 1800 to 0630. Performs routine therapies that aid in the treatment, diagnosis, and evaluation of cardiopulmonary status. Performs and documents emergency rounds, oxygen saturation checks, and titrates oxygen per protocol. Initiates, monitors, evaluates, and weans invasive and non-invasive ventilation. Makes parameter recommendations based on clinical assessment, technical assessment, patient compliance, patient response, laboratory values, and patient status. Performs therapies in compliance with universal precautions and proper body mechanics. Uses sound judgment in evaluating situations and takes appropriate action when necessary. Initiates and provides ongoing evaluation of treatment regime including medication delivery and oxygen administration. Performs patient assessments to determine needs related to treatment therapies, frequencies, and duration. Assesses patients clinically before and after administration of medication, procedure, or device. Recommends appropriate therapy including initial therapy, changes in therapy, and discontinuation. Monitors, assesses, educates, and documents the patient and/or family on therapies, medications, and goals of therapies. Demonstrates competence in the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators and noninvasive ventilation devices. Cleans, assembles, and maintains equipment and stocks departmental supplies. Responds to emergent care situations and assists with resuscitation. Provides chest compressions, airway management, airway stabilization, and ventilator support as directed. Transports patients on mechanical ventilators and critically ill patients to procedures and testing. Provides developmentally appropriate care to support various patient populations during hospitalization. Demonstrates competence in the care of pediatric and adult patients. Participates in community education events relating to procedures performed, disease processes, medications, and treatments. Seeks to improve performance by participating in self-development activities, in-services, and continuing education.
