Job Description

The MIG / Flux-Core Welder is responsible for welding, fitting, and assembling metal components and structures using MIG (GMAW) and Flux-Core (FCAW) welding processes. The ideal candidate will be able to read blueprints, perform quality welds, and safely operate welding and fabrication equipment in a production or fabrication environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform MIG (GMAW) and Flux-Core (FCAW) welding on carbon steel and other metals as required.
• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, shop drawings, and work orders.
• Prepare materials for welding by cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components.
• Perform structural, production, and fabrication welding according to specifications.
• Inspect welds for quality, penetration, and compliance with project requirements.
• Utilize measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, and other fabrication machinery safely.
• Perform weld repairs and modifications as needed.
• Maintain welding equipment and report maintenance issues.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with MIG (GMAW) and Flux-Core (FCAW) welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, materials, and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with structural steel fabrication and welding.
• Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
• Knowledge of weld inspection standards and quality control procedures.
• Forklift or material handling experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and move materials as required.
• Ability to work in hot, noisy, and physically demanding shop environments.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing.

Work Environment

• Manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial shop environment.
• Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, heat, noise, and moving equipment.
• Compliance with all safety, quality, and operational standards is required.
