Temporary Medical Insurance Collection Specialist

Express Employment Professionals is hiring a Temporary Medical Insurance Collection Specialist for a Clearwater-based client. This role focuses on collecting outstanding insurance balances, ensuring timely reimbursement, and resolving claim issues.

Key Responsibilities

Follow up on unpaid or underpaid insurance claims via electronic systems, phone, or written communication
Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments
Submit corrected claims, appeals, and required documentation
Track and document claim status and actions in billing software/EMR
Analyze EOBs, remittance advices, and payer correspondence
Maintain accurate account documentation for compliance
Reconcile insurance payments against billed amounts
Communicate with insurance carriers, patients, and internal teams
Coordinate with coding, billing, and patient services to resolve issues

Qualifications

Understanding of medical insurance, including deductibles, copays, and coinsurance
Experience verifying and interpreting benefits for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans
Experience with referrals and prior authorizations
Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 codes
Familiarity with payer guidelines and authorization requirements
Ability to maintain accurate patient account information
Strong communication and multitasking skills
Ability to work in an office setting (sitting, standing, walking, bending)
General duties as assigned
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
