Mechanical Engineer

Scope of Position This detail‑oriented Mechanical Engineer will work end‑to‑end on mechanical design and development from concept through production, supporting operations, manufacturing, and other engineering departments. The role reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, is onsite in Oviedo, FL, and has no direct reports. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities Research, design, and develop stainless‑steel fixtures, valves, and ancillary components using sheet metal, casting, machining, and injection molding. Perform lab testing and gather data to support prototype validation and performance evaluation. Work with outside vendors to develop components. Finalize and verify tooling and product designs for molding/production purposes. Troubleshoot mechanical issues during development, production, and testing phases of various components. 3D‑model components, produce and maintain technical drawings, and create marketing drawings. Work cross‑functionally with electrical, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure project alignment. Interpret technical requirements and specifications to drive product design and development. Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Mechanical Engineering Manager or company management. Act with integrity in all interactions by providing technically accurate information and representing product capabilities responsibly. Travel Requirements Moderate (10‑25%) travel. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 5+ years of experience with new product development. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and manufacturing drawings. Previous work experience with project management and new product design. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability. Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering and manufacturing teams. Self‑starter capable of working independently and within a team, with strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Understanding and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices. Successful establishment of employment eligibility and satisfactory completion of background checks and required pre‑employment testing. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with ASME, ASSE, and plumbing industry standards. Experience with high‑security, anti‑ligature, or vandal‑resistant product design.
