Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to lead structural design, analysis, and delivery of building and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will hold SE and PE credentials, demonstrate strong structural design expertise, and be responsible for producing safe, code-compliant, and cost-effective structural solutions from concept through construction. This role requires collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and permitting agencies to ensure successful project outcomes and adherence to schedule and budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead structural design and analysis for buildings, foundations, retaining structures, and other structural systems from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Produce calculations, design drawings, specifications, and construction documents that comply with applicable building codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, AASHTO, NDS).
  • Perform load calculations and select appropriate gravity and lateral load resisting systems; evaluate seismic and wind design requirements and apply performance-based methods as needed.
  • Develop and review structural models using industry-standard tools (STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM, SAFE, Tekla, Revit/BIM) and perform finite element, nonlinear, and dynamic/modal analysis where required.
  • Design reinforced concrete, precast, prestressed/post-tensioned concrete, structural steel, timber/wood, masonry, pile foundations, and retaining walls; perform connection design (bolted/welded) and reinforcement/rebar detailing.
  • Coordinate and review shop drawings, prepare and review structural specifications, and manage permit submittals and agency reviews.
  • Provide construction administration support including site inspections, QA/QC, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and performing load rating or structural assessments as required.
  • Conduct structural retrofit, forensics, and condition assessments; recommend remediation and strengthening solutions; participate in structural health monitoring programs.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, MEP teams, architects, and contractors to resolve design conflicts, perform clash detection, and ensure constructability.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and presentations; manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; mentor junior engineers and coordinate project teams.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and Structural Engineer (SE) registration required.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive structural engineering experience with demonstrated responsibility for design and project delivery; experience may vary depending on role level.
  • Strong expertise in structural design principles and proficiency performing structural analysis and load calculations.
  • Familiarity with seismic design, wind design, gravity systems, lateral load resisting systems, foundation and pile design, retaining wall design, and structural retrofit/forensics.
  • Experience designing reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber/wood, masonry, precast concrete, and prestressed/post-tensioned concrete systems.
  • Skilled in connection design (bolted/welded), steel connection design, reinforcement/rebar detailing, and shop drawing review.
  • Proficient with structural modeling and analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, RAM Structural System, SAFE, Tekla Structures, and FEA tools.
  • Experience with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and clash detection/coordination with MEP teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, AASHTO, NDS) and experience preparing construction documents, specifications, and permit packages.
  • Experience with construction administration, site inspections, QA/QC, OSHA/safety compliance, and coordination during construction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, report writing ability, and experience with project management, cost estimating, and client-facing work.
  • Preferred: experience with nonlinear analysis, dynamic/modal/vibration analysis, performance-based seismic design, load rating, structural health monitoring, and geotechnical interface.
