Job Overview The Clinical Dietitian II works closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide integrated patient care aligned with patient-focused medical goals. Responsibilities Apply the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention development, and monitoring. Use the Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework (SODPF) and Standards of Practice (SOP/SOPP) to determine scope and evidence-based protocols. Provide independent, competent-level nutrition care to patients, including complex types. Mentor and serve as a resource and leader for Clinical Dietitian I staff. Assist in oversight of the Nutrition Care Process in assigned area and apply research to refine departmental standards. Lead at least one performance improvement initiative annually or develop/revise nutrition protocols. Participate in process and outcome measures, using quantifiable indicators, or engage in nutrition research studies and communicate findings through reports, abstracts, presentations, and publications. Serve as mentor and trainer for clinical dietitians I, dietetic students, and interns, developing and coordinating learning experiences. Education Qualifications Bachelor's or Master’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, or related field from an accredited institution. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and a supervised practice program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education and Dietetics. Master’s degree in dietetics or specialty area preferred. Experience Qualifications Two (2) years of work experience as a clinical dietitian and at least one specialty certification (CNSC or CDE). Three (3) years full‑time equivalent experience as a clinical dietitian in a setting providing care to complex patients. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps. Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy. General knowledge of electronic medical record, nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Effective communication skills—written, verbal, electronic—to patients, public, clinicians, and physicians. Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units or outpatient clinics. Counselling and education ability to others. Critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and collaboration. Licenses and Certifications Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
