Job Description

Job Description

Thermoplastic Injection Molding Process Technologist

Location: Rockwall, TX
Compensation: $25–$35 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift

A day in the role

Your day starts on the production floor—machines warming, molds staged, and a new run queued up. You complete a quick walk-through, verify materials, and dial in parameters so the first shots meet spec. When a part shows a faint sink or a bit of flash, you make crisp adjustments to temperature, pressure, or cycle time and log the changes. You collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality to keep throughput high and scrap low. By mid-morning, you’ve executed a mold changeover, approved a first-piece inspection, and coached an operator on best practices. The shift closes with preventative checks, tidy work areas, and a stable process ready for the next run.

What you’ll handle
  • Set up and launch injection molding machines for scheduled production
  • Perform quick, accurate mold changes and machine changeovers
  • Diagnose and correct issues like short shots, flash, burns, sinks, and dimensional drift
  • Fine-tune parameters—temperatures, pressures, cycle times, and cooling—to optimize output
  • Track part quality and line efficiency during the run
  • Complete first-piece inspections and record process adjustments
  • Partner closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and equipment troubleshooting
  • Champion a clean, safe, well-organized workspace
What you bring
  • 3+ years as an injection molding process technician (or comparable hands-on experience)
  • Proven ability to perform mold changes independently
  • Working knowledge of plastic resins and molding principles
  • Strength in troubleshooting and process optimization
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort reading work instructions and quality standards
  • Reliable attendance and a stable work history
Bonus points
  • Background in scientific molding
  • RJG or similar processor training
  • Experience in fast-paced, high-volume environments
  • Exposure to automation and robotics
Why you’ll like it here
  • Competitive pay tied to experience
  • Clear opportunities for advancement
  • Stable, growing manufacturing organization
  • Comprehensive benefits package available
Your toolkit and proficiencies
  • Mechanical troubleshooting
  • Quality control practices
  • Twin-screw compounding familiarity
  • Experience with Nylon 6 and Nylon 66 (PA6) materials
  • Plastic extrusion know-how
  • Tool, die, and mold repair capabilities
  • Hands-on injection molding operations
  • Tool/die/mold setup expertise
  • Blueprint reading
