Intern, Quantum Architecture

This internship bridges theory and practical implementation in fusion-based quantum computing (FBQC), linear optical networks, decoding, and logical architecture. Candidates will contribute to the modeling, simulation, and benchmarking of fault-tolerant protocols:

Internships last between 3 and 6 months and are available on-site in Brisbane or Palo Alto, or remote depending on project requirements.

Note: Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a PhD program related to quantum computing, physics, or mathematics.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and evaluate new methods for fault-tolerant fusion-based quantum computing (FBQC).
• Model, simulate, and benchmark various quantum error-correcting protocols and decoding algorithms.
• Analyze error propagation in linear optical quantum systems;
• Collaborate with research teams to design and test components of the logical quantum architecture.
• Document findings and present results to the quantum architecture team.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in or completed a PhD in Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
• Strong knowledge of quantum information theory and fault tolerance.
• Familiarity with one or more of the following is preferred:
  • Quantum networks
  • Stabilizer and graph-state methods
  • Quantum error correction
  • Tensor networks or ZX calculus
  • Linear optical quantum computing
• Experience in Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
• Comfortable using collaborative development tools like GitHub.
• Analytical thinker with creative problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment.

Compensation:

Hourly rates vary by education level and permanent residency location:

• Bachelor's (in progress): $27.50/hour
• Bachelor's Degree: $31.00/hour
• Master's (1st Year): $36.00/hour
• Master's Degree: $40.00/hour
• PhD (in progress): $44.00/hour
• PhD (near completion): $47.00/hour

Additional housing or commuter stipends may apply based on location.
