Certified Athletic Trainer - Viper

Compass Government Solutions is seeking an experienced Certified Athletic Trainer to provide services at the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA).

Work Schedule:

• Duty hours will be designated by mission requirements.
• Hours shall not be constrained to a standard 0530 to 1430 workday; however, they will not exceed ten (10) consecutive hours in a day, including a one (1) hour lunch break, or 40 hours per week.

Job duties include:

• Performing a full range of Certified Athletic Trainer duties.
• Preventing, recognizing, treating, and rehabilitating injuries.
• Providing evaluation and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries.
• Designing and fabricating protective pads, equipment, and braces.
• Operating and performing duties as otherwise assigned.
• Attending meetings and briefings pertaining to the Athletic Training Program.
• Performing comprehensive clinical examinations.
• Interpreting findings and formulating a diagnosis.
• Developing and implementing treatment plans.
• Performing therapeutic modalities.
• Developing and implementing strength training and aerobic conditioning programs.
• Instructing and counseling service members regarding compliance with therapeutic regimens.
• Assisting in coordinating and supervising the fitness of service members.
• Evaluating and recommending new techniques and equipment.
• Designing and implementing conditioning programs.
• Completing required documentation of service members evaluations and therapeutic interventions.
• Participating in research.
• Educating service members regarding sports medicine concepts and injury prevention strategies.
• Providing appropriate clinical follow-up for reevaluation of injuries.
• Assessing service members to screen for factors that would increase their risk of injury/illness.
• Selecting, applying, and evaluating the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
• Partnering with sports medicine physician(s) to ensure clinical care objectives are met.
• Performing daily clinical care within the ATF.
• Providing and completing peer reviews of patient care documentation.
• May independently provide medical coverage and oversight of unit physical training activities.
• May work in conjunction with other emergency medical support personnel.
• Providing athletic training services to patients.
• Performing other medical management and CPI initiatives.
• Will be trained to operate government ATVs "Polaris/Gators" to facilitate participation in event medical coverage.

Qualifications

Citizenship:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States in accordance with applicable federal laws and regulations.

Education:

• Master's degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) in Athletic Training
• or Bachelor's degree from an accredited university within the field of Athletic Training.

Experience:

• Master's degree Experience requirements: At least one (1) year of experience in diagnosing, treating, and/or preventing musculoskeletal injuries in a high school, collegiate, professional, or military setting.
• Bachelor's degree Experience requirements: At least three (3) years of experience in diagnosing, treating, and/or preventing musculoskeletal injuries in high school, collegiate, professional, or military settings.

Certifications:

• Certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) or National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA).
• Current certification with the NATABOC or NATA throughout the period of their employment.
• In-person BLS certification, as accepted by the AHA, (Healthcare Providers for clinical providers) or by the American Red Cross, is required. Online courses are not acceptable to meet the BLS requirement.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted Texas state license.
