Overview

The Air & Space Forces Aid Society (AFAS) is seeking a Donor Relations Specialist to manage and grow a portfolio of mid-level donors. This role is responsible for building relationships, increasing donor engagement, and supporting fundraising efforts that directly benefit Airmen, Guardians, and their families. This is a hybrid position based in Arlington, VA.

About AFAS

AFAS is the official charity of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. Since 1942, we have provided emergency financial assistance, education support, and community programs to military families in need. Our team of 32 supports families across more than 70 installations nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 250 to 300 donors
• Conduct regular outreach through email, phone, and campaigns
• Maintain accurate donor records in CRM systems
• Track donor engagement and giving trends
• Support fundraising campaigns and donor communications
• Identify opportunities to increase donor giving and retention
• Assist with donor events and stewardship activities
• Collaborate with the Development and Communications teams

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or annual giving
• Experience managing donor relationships or stakeholder portfolios
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Experience with CRM systems, Salesforce preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Required

• Do you have at least 2 years of experience working in nonprofit fundraising or donor relations? Yes/ No
• What is the largest number of stakeholders relationships you have managed at one time?
• This role requires managing a high volume of donor relationships with consistent follow-through. Briefly describe how you stay organized and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
• Do you have experience using a CRM system such as Salesforce? Yes/ No
• Are you able to work a hybrid schedule 3 days/week Tuesday-Thursday from our Crystal City office? Yes/ No
