About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Medical Surgical/Pediatrics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day/Night Rotation Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Yes Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: - Ability to communicate effectively. - Strong motivation and approachability. - Team collaboration skills. - Willingness to ask questions when unsure. Description: Department involves Medical Surgical and Pediatrics. Certifications required include BLS and PALS. Fit testing for facial hair is required. Facial hair must be managed to ensure compliance with fit testing. Patients on the unit include both adults and pediatrics. Common diagnoses include UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4 during the day and 1:5 at night. There is a charge nurse on each shift, who takes an assignment. Patient care techs are present with a ratio of 2:15 during the day and 1 on night shifts. Pediatricians are on call for pediatric patients but not in-house. Respiratory therapy primarily manages Bipap. Nurses apply tele monitors for patients but do not read strips. Self-scheduling is available with shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM. Weekend shifts are required as needed, with no holiday requirement. Floating may be required to ED/ICU for 1:1 care as needed. Scrub color is navy blue. Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift or may include day and night orientation as needed. Attributes conducive to success include effective communication and teamwork. Documentation can be complex, and attention to detail is essential. RTO needs to be provided upfront with restrictions on additional time off requests. Client policies allow for shift cancellations as specified. Documentation system utilized is MEDITECH. This position does not require a BSN. A valid license is necessary for this role. Care provides an acute division setting.
