Build and repair custom machine shop tools using precision machining equipment and measuring instruments. In this role, you'll work from blueprints and sketches to create or modify prototypes, tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds.
You'll also calculate dimensions and tolerances to set up machine tools, then operate lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines to bring each design to life.


Key Responsibilities

• Read Blueprints:Interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, and CADmodels to plan machining operations.

• Operate Equipment:Set up and run conventional and CNCmachine tools (lathes, millers, grinders, and EDMs).

• Assemble and Fit:File, grind, shim, and align parts to ensure exact component assembly and smooth finishes.

• Test and Inspect:Check dimensions using precision measuring instruments and conduct test runs to verify parts meet specifications.

• Repair and Maintain:Troubleshoot, dismantle, and repair worn or broken dies and machinery to minimize downtime.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Education:High school diploma or GED; completion of a state-qualified apprenticeship program or vocational technical training is typically required.

• Technical Skills:Proficiency in advanced technical math, blueprint reading, precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers), and CAD/CAM software.

• Physical & Soft Skills:Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with production teams.
