Gibson operates via a central headquarters based in Nashville, TN, supporting five manufacturing facilities as well as four regionally-based support centres that enable the sales, marketing, and distribution activities in each of four different worldwide regions.Overall Job PurposeThe purpose of Milling is to inspect, prep, and combine raw wood to provide the best single unit materials to the body assembly and neckline processes. Team members are required to have a great attention to detail and intimate knowledge of the types, and properties of wood. Milling is where a Gibson Guitar begins, and is a vital process in the creation of a guitar that is both beautiful and has that distinct Gibson Sound.Roles & ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities will include:Learn and execute standard operating proceduresInspect raw wood material for cracks, pitch pockets, and grain defectsUtilize Opera 5 sander to produce units with optimal finish and thicknessReceive, organize, and label incoming shipments of raw material95% pass rate based on production requirementsUnderstands and meets quality standards (Specs.)Maintains product flow at appropriate rateAdheres to department protocols (5S and Safety)Person SpecificationRequired Experience and QualificationsDevelop a strong understanding of the modelsStrong attention to detail.Essential Skills & KnowledgeExcellent written and oral communication skillsSolutions oriented approach to challenges/issuesOutstanding time management skillset with the ability to prioritize without direct supervisionTeam work and project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a teamPersonal QualitiesResults oriented and driven, with a track record for delivering to planFlexibility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
