Hazardous Building Material/Industrial Hygiene Project Manager

Job Description The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking a Hazardous Building Material/Industrial Hygiene Project Manager for immediate employment with the Northeast department of the EHS & Air Practice. Candidates will be based in the Boston, MA, Chelmsford, MA, or Manchester, NH office. Responsibilities Manage and/or self‑perform hazardous building material and industrial hygiene projects for private and public‑sector clients. Collaborate with licensed/certified professionals and regulatory specialists on projects including survey, abatement/remediation design and execution. Provide technical and regulatory leadership throughout New England, the US, and internationally. Develop proposals covering scope, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications. Oversee technical work and field activities to ensure compliance with scope, budget, schedule, and regulatory/industry standards. Prepare written reports, work plans, and technical memoranda; analyze data and develop conclusions. Work collaboratively with other EHS department teams, the Environment business line, and across AECOM’s internal business lines. Identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies and add value to client services. Support department growth through internal and external sales efforts. Minimum Qualifications BA/BS degree and 8 years of experience (or equivalent). Technical experience with building hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint, etc.). Industrial hygiene, mold, or indoor air quality experience. 40‑hour OSHA HAZWOPER training. EPA AHERA Asbestos Inspector certification. New England state licenses for asbestos (MA, ME, NH, CT) or eligibility to obtain them. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor‑vehicle records review. US citizenship. Preferred Qualifications EPA Asbestos Management Planner, Project Designer, Supervisor, or Lead Risk Assessor certification. New England state asbestos designer licenses (MA, CT, ME). Experience in strategy and growth plan development. Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional. Experience developing proposal scope, fee, terms for interdisciplinary hazardous material services. Ability to work in fast‑paced environments and adapt to changing priorities. Experience interacting with architects and engineers on renovation designs requiring asbestos/hazardous material program requirements, drawings, specifications, and design narratives. Experience managing and/or mentoring technical teams. Experience managing public and private sector projects of varying sizes. Experience managing scope, budget, staff administration, and development. Experience building client relationships and driving business development. Excellent verbal and written communication and technical writing skills; highly effective organization and multitasking. Internally driven, self‑starter, and team‑oriented. Compensation USD 108,000 – USD 150,000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Work Location Model Hybrid.
