Job Overview

In this 2nd shift role, you'll join the Manufacturing Engineering Department, supporting CNC Operations and Shop Floor Teams on large-format machines including VTLs, VBMs, gantry 5-axis, and multi-purpose turn/grind equipment up to 2.5m. What's the Job? ??

• Program and support CNC machining processes for large-format equipment, including VTL, VBM, gantry 5-axis, and multi-purpose turn/grind machines

• Generate and maintain CNC programs using NX-CAM or similar software for milling, turning, grinding, and/or EDM

• Verify new CNC programs using Vericut prior to release on the shop floor

• Incorporate on-machine probing using Renishaw cycles for part and process validation, including error trapping

• Create programs following established standards and qualified machining parameters

• Provide CNC-related support to Manufacturing Engineers, including operator training during new/rebuilt machine startups and process improvements

• Deliver daily operator support through CNC programming and troubleshooting

• Support and implement tooling and fixturing requirements for CNC machine tools

• Generate and maintain workstation instructions (methods) for CNC-related processes

• Initiate and lead process improvement projects focused on safety, quality, cost, and delivery

• Collaborate effectively with team members in a fast-paced, matrixed organization

What's Needed? ?

• 4+ years of experience with a graphical-based CAM system for CNC programming (Siemens NX experience preferred and given priority)

• Experience with multi-axis CNC machining

• Experience creating 5-axis CNC programs using a CAM system (preferably NX) is a plus

• Minimum of 1 year of experience with high-level machine tool controls, including sub-routines (macros), Renishaw probing routines, variable-based programming, and CLM (closed loop machining)

• Significant hands-on background as a machinist, with the ability to personally set up and prove out complex first-piece programs

• Proven track record managing tight tolerances on large-format equipment (VTLs/VBMs/etc. up to 2.5m), accounting for part deflection, work hardening, and thermal stability

• Extensive experience machining nickel-based superalloys (Inconel, Rene, Hastelloy, or similar) common in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) or Aerospace industries

• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with above-average shop math skills in geometry and trigonometry

• Experience using Vericut (preferred) or other CNC verification/machine simulation software

• Strong familiarity with multiple machine controls, including Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, and Siemens

• Demonstrated proficiency interpreting drawing requirements

• Ability to multi-task and productively manage multiple projects concurrently
