About Us

We're a growing food service and hospitality company delivering meals across senior nutrition, community, and healthcare-affiliated programs throughout the New York/New Jersey area. Our delivery operation is expanding, and we're looking for a hands-on Director of Home Delivery Logistics to help us scale.

About the Role

We're looking for a Director of Home Delivery Logistics to lead our last-mile delivery and distribution operations across our Home and Bulk delivery lines. You'll oversee approximately 2,000 home deliveries a day across 32–35 routes, a team of about 50 drivers, and a mixed fleet of company-leased, company-owned, and owner-operator vehicles. You'll also manage carrier and vendor relationships, own the logistics budget, and put the right systems in place as we grow, while working closely with our warehouse and customer service teams. This role reports to the Vice President of Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Last-Mile Strategy: Oversee and optimize our home delivery network, regional distribution hubs, and final-mile carrier performance, including daily dispatch and routing for 32–35 routes and roughly 2,000 home deliveries per day.
• Team Leadership: Manage a driver team of approximately 50, including scheduling, performance oversight, day-to-day communication, and onboarding of new drivers as the fleet grows.
• Vendor Negotiations: Manage contracts and relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight carriers, owner-operators, and delivery fleets.
• Fleet & Compliance: Coordinate maintenance and repair schedules to minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with all applicable DOT, safety, and licensing regulations for drivers and vehicles.
• Budget & Cost Control: Develop and monitor operational budgets, tracking shipping, fuel, maintenance, and labor costs to drive savings.
• Performance Metrics: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rate, order accuracy, route efficiency, vehicle downtime, and cost per delivery.
• Process Automation: Implement and leverage Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and maintain standard operating procedures for routing, dispatch, and fleet management as the department scales.
• Warehouse Partnership: Partner with the warehouse team to align delivery schedules with inventory availability and loading operations.
• Customer Service Partnership: Serve as a key point of contact for customer service on delivery status, escalations, and service recovery.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience: 7+ years of progressive logistics experience, with at least 3 years managing home delivery, route delivery, or direct-to-consumer (D2C) operations. Food service, hospitality, or last-mile delivery experience preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in TMS and ERP platforms, with a strong understanding of routing and dispatch software in the home delivery space.
• Leadership: Proven ability to build, mentor, and manage large operational teams.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify bottlenecks and resolve delivery issues quickly.
• Compliance: Working knowledge of fleet maintenance planning and DOT requirements.
• Communication: Able to coordinate effectively across drivers, warehouse staff, vendors, and customer service in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Work Environment

This role requires regular presence in both office and warehouse/dispatch settings, based in Brooklyn, NY. Occasional early morning or evening availability may be required to support route start times or resolve delivery issues.
