Job Title: Process Automation Engineer
Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)
Duration: Long term contract
Role Description: The Engineer will support the development, integration, and optimization of automated manufacturing processes for electromechanical medical devices. The role requires a hands-on combination of mechanical engineering, automation, controls, and software skills, with a focus on improving factory processes and preparing production systems for launch. We are looking for a Process Automation Engineer on contract to support the automation and production readiness of a medical-device manufacturing operation ahead of a new product launch.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support automation of assembly, testing, inspection, and manufacturing processes.
- Develop and improve automated workstations, tooling, fixtures, robotics, and production workflows.
- Integrate PLCs, sensors, machine vision, robotics, and manufacturing software.
- Troubleshoot and optimize automated equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Support equipment commissioning, testing, process validation, and production ramp-up.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve cycle time, quality, and reliability.
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and product-development teams to transition processes into production.
Preferred Background:
- Experience in process automation, manufacturing engineering, industrial automation, or related fields.
- Strong combination of mechanical engineering and software/controls expertise.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, machine vision, sensors, or automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with electromechanical products and automated assembly/testing processes.
- Experience in medical-device or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
