The Good Fork Pub is seeking an experienced and dependable Line Cook to join our kitchen team in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

We are looking for someone who works cleanly, communicates clearly, and can execute food consistently during busy service. This is a hands-on position that includes station setup, prep, service execution, closing responsibilities, and supporting the kitchen team wherever needed.

The right candidate takes pride in their station, pays attention to prep levels, follows established standards, and understands that smooth service depends on preparation, communication, and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

• Set up, operate, and close assigned stations according to kitchen standards.
• Execute menu items and specials accurately and efficiently based on ticket flow.
• Follow pickup, portioning, plating, and presentation standards established by the Chef and Lead Line Cook.
• Maintain urgency, consistency, and clear communication throughout service.
• Keep the station clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service.
• Properly label, date, store, and rotate all products.
• Immediately communicate critical prep shortages, station issues, or low inventory to kitchen leadership.
• Monitor station prep levels and identify items needed for the following day's service.
• Maintain accurate prep lists for the Prep Cook and Chef.
• Assist with prep projects during slower periods.
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, allergen, and workplace-safety procedures.
• Assist other stations and team members as needed to support smooth kitchen operations.
• Help demonstrate station procedures and kitchen systems to new employees and working trails.

Qualifications:

• Previous professional line-cook experience required.
• Strong knife skills and understanding of basic cooking techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes, portioning standards, and verbal direction.
• Ability to remain organized and communicate clearly during busy service.
• Reliable, punctual, and prepared to work when scheduled.
• Comfortable receiving direction from the Chef and Lead Line Cook.
• Willingness to cross-train and assist with prep responsibilities.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, consistency, and detail.
• NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus.

• Arrive on time and prepared for each shift.

• Work cleanly, safely, and efficiently.
• Communicate shortages or problems before they affect service.
• Support a team-oriented and respectful kitchen environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work around heat, steam, sharp equipment, and hot cooking surfaces.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced professional kitchen.

Schedule and Compensation:

Position: Full-Time Line Cook

Schedule: Evening and weekend availability required

Compensation: $22–$25 per hour, based on experience

Expected Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week

Benefits: Paid sick leave in accordance with New York City requirements
