Federal Project Manager

Job Overview Position: Federal Project Manager (Staff) Location(s): Overland Park, KS; Bloomington, MN; Columbia, MD; Tualatin, OR; Orlando, FL; Arlington, VA; Ann Arbor, MI; Cary, NC; Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; Phoenix, AZ; Houston, TX Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies (B&V Special Projects Corp.) Key Responsibilities Manage multiple small to medium sized services projects and/or a small EPC project. Oversee multiple clients and/or projects. Obtain new/repeat business on medium‑size projects; support contract negotiations with client peers. Manage risk for fixed‑price engineering, new technology, or new clients. Lead business development; identify client requirements; develop and maintain relationships; prepare and present project estimates and proposals. Negotiate commercial contract terms; manage budgets, costs, and receivables; handle contracts, legal issues, and health metrics. Execute projects using B&V phases and methodology: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control, and closeout. Manage scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety; manage changes and constructability; manage procurement; manage warranty plan. Lead and manage a project team; communicate expectations; motivate, coach, and mentor. Delegate work; resolve conflicts; ensure collaboration. Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of experience working with A/E design teams on U.S. Department of Defense projects. Experience across the full project lifecycle from proposal to construction. Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) license. Experience with AFCEC, NAVFAC, and/or USACE. Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance. Business development, business acumen, and leadership experience relevant to the key responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, motor vehicle records search). U.S. citizenship is required. Compensation and Benefits Base salary range by location may vary. Annual compensation ranges from $126,236 to $214,599. Professional office environment with occasional site visits to federal and mission‑critical facilities. Typical construction environment hazards: extreme weather, high noise, electrical hazards, scaffolding, high places, chemical exposure, respirable dusts. Physical tasks may include standing, lifting up to 40 lbs, walking, talking, typing, driving, and filing. Certifications None specified. Management Responsibilities Acts as project manager; manages and leads a project team that may vary by project.
