Quality Inspector - Electromechanical/Welding

Our associates are expert quality assurance professionals with broad experience and local knowledge who can represent our clients on-demand and on-site faster than our competitors.We are seeking a detail-oriented Welding Inspector to ensure the quality, compliance, and integrity of welded components and assemblies. This role is responsible for performing inspections, verifying documentation, and ensuring all materials and workmanship meet applicable standards, drawings, and specifications. This position is 40 hours, Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, for 6-months.Key Responsibilities:Perform visual inspection (VT) of structural welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 acceptance criteriaEvaluate weld workmanship and surface conditionIdentify weld discontinuities including: cracks, undercut, porosity, overlap, incomplete fusion indications, arc strikes, excessive reinforcement, crater defectsVerify weld profiles, weld size, and contour requirementsInspect fillet welds, groove welds, CJP and PJP weldsWelding Documentation ReviewReview and verify approved WPS documentationConfirm welder qualifications and continuity recordsVerify welding processes and consumables comply with approved proceduresReview fabrication drawings and weld symbolsEnsure inspection requirements are properly flowed downIn-Process and Final InspectionPerform pre-weld, in-process, and final inspectionsVerify fit-up, joint preparation, alignment, and cleanlinessMonitor workmanship during fabrication activitiesVerify repairs and rework activities meet acceptance criteriaCoordinate with NDE personnel when requiredReporting and DocumentationGenerate inspection reports and nonconformance documentationDocument weld findings accurately and clearlyProvide objective disposition recommendationsSupport corrective action and root cause investigationsMaintain inspection records and traceability documentationSupplier / Source Inspection SupportPerform source inspections at supplier facilities when requiredSupport supplier quality evaluations and auditsCommunicate technical concerns professionally with suppliers and customersAssist in process improvement and workmanship standardization activitiesRequired Qualifications:Education / Experience High school diploma or equivalent requiredTechnical training in welding inspection preferredMinimum 3–5 years of structural welding inspection experience preferredExperience inspecting structural steel fabrication and welded assembliesTechnical Knowledge Strong working knowledge of: AWS D1.1 requirementsAWS B1.11 visual inspection practicesWeld symbols and fabrication drawingsWelding processes:FCAWGMAWSMAWGTAW (preferred)Structural steel fabrication practicesWeld gauges and inspection toolsWeld discontinuities and workmanship evaluationPreferred Qualifications:Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)VT Level II certificationNDE certifications (MT/PT preferred)OSHA safety trainingStructural steel fabrication experience$35 - $40 an hourNote: This position requires access to ITAR-controlled technical data and/or defense articles.
