CNC Machinist

Department: Machine Shop
Reports To: Machine Shop Manager
Location: Dakota Digital – Sioux Falls, SD
Employment Type: Full-Time M-F 7am-3:30pm

Position Summary

Dakota Digital is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality precision components used in Dakota Digital products. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing quality work, follows safety procedures, and enjoys working in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes according to production specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, and job travelers.
• Verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Make machine offsets and minor program adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and in good working condition.
• Monitor production runs for quality, efficiency, and consistency.
• Identify and report quality concerns or equipment issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work cooperatively with supervisors, engineers, and fellow production employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNC machining experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills are helpful.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Use hands for repetitive motions and fine motor tasks.
• Ability to bend, twist, reach, and occasionally kneel.
• Good vision, including close vision and depth perception, to inspect parts accurately.
