Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Epic EMR proficiency required and recent experience - Trauma level I/II hospital experience required - Must have experience with titrating drips Description: The position is for an ICU Registered Nurse. Start dates are not flexible. A 100-mile radius rule applies. There are no guaranteed hours. Blocked scheduling requests are not permitted. No more than 5 days of requested days off is allowed. Nurse-patient ratios in the unit are 1:1 or 1:2 in Medical-Surgical ICU. If there are no vents/drips, the ratio may be 1:3. The unit has 42 beds. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. Common diagnoses and types of patients include cardiac cases, open heart surgery, balloon interventions, impella, tPA, and TPE. Core staff members manage certain specialties. Small head bleeds and post-tPA administration cases are sent to a different facility if intervention is needed. The unit provides care for Level 3 trauma cases. Experience with vent management, sedation, sepsis, pressors, DKA, cardiac, CHF, and respiratory conditions is required. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable and set rate drips include multiple vasopressors, inotropes, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, sedatives, paralytics, analgesics, and anticoagulants. The unit operates with charge-free shifts; nurses attend codes and rapid response team (RRT) situations. Patient care technicians are available to assist with EKGs, blood sugar checks, procedure setup, I/O, activities of daily living, and lab draws. An intensivist is on-site 24/7, providing comprehensive medical coverage. Respiratory therapy is also available in the ICU around the clock. All nursing staff must clock out for lunch. The position involves self-scheduling with 4 requested days off in a 4-week period. Weekend requirements include 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period. Two major holidays are required, with specific conditions for Christmas. There is no on-call or standby requirement. Floating to other units may be required, with adjusted patient loads. Scrub color is navy blue. A unit-specific orientation process is included, with skills, competencies, and procedures covered. Cancellation policies may apply to weekly guaranteed hours. The charting system used is EPIC. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required.
