Respiratory Therapist (RT) Weekend Program

Job Details Department: 36402 AMC Mount Pleasant - Respiratory Therapy Services Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule Details: 3‑12 hrs. Night shift weekend program. Pay Range: $33.05‑$49.60 per hour Sign‑on Bonus: $12,500 Loan Forgiveness: up to $21,000 Tuition Assistance: up to $21,000 Major Responsibilities Use respiratory therapy processes to support assessment of patients utilizing pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlating blood gases and electrolytes. Identify and address special needs of patient populations specific to department services. Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non‑critical care venues. Assist physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable. Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient‑driven respiratory protocols as prescribed. Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment; troubleshoot and identify service/repair needs. Educate and instruct patients on the purpose, technique, self‑care, therapy goals, and disease management. Facilitate clinical problem‑solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on managing patients. Under physician direction, adapt and comply with policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks and special duties as required, and maintain performance standards. Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills; provide clear, concise, timely, and accurate patient handoff. Promote a culture of safety by applying proper safety measures, reporting events and near misses, identifying potential safety issues, and assisting in corrective actions. Teach, educate, and precept new teammates, orientees, and students. Demonstrate knowledge of age‑specific patient care, principles of growth and development, and interpret data to identify patient requirements. Licensure, Registration, and Certification Required Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices. Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the NBRC within 12 months OR active Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential issued by the NBRC if credential received prior to January 1 2023. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). See Education/Certification Addendum for any additional site‑specific requirements. Education Required Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with a minimum of an associate degree. Experience Required No experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Effective organizational, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills. Problem‑solving and decision‑making for patient care and equipment use. Proficient computer skills and use of e‑mail and electronic medical record systems. Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate human‑relation skills, ability to develop rapport, and maintain professional relationships with patients, team members, and physicians; take initiative and work collaboratively. Demonstrate time‑management skills with ability to multi‑task and prioritize in an environment with frequent interruptions. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job. Lift 50 lb. from knee to waist; occasionally lift 50 lb. from floor to waist height. Lift 40 lb. at waist height and carry across distances. Lift 20 lb. from waist to overhead. Pushing/pulling with up to 30 lb. of force occasionally for long distances. Demonstrate stand‑pivot transfer from bed to chair. Perform sliding transfer of a 150‑lb. person on a sheet across 2 feet with a second person. Utilize safe body mechanics at all times.
