Ability to make and communicate all credit decisions (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate staff. Underwriters are responsible for keeping within fair lending practices and protecting the company by making sound lending decisions.As a mortgage underwriter, your job responsibilities are to:Analyze loan files based on program and product specificationsReview and analyze credit reports, income and asset documents as well as appraisal reports and other relevant information.Maintain expert knowledge of corporate, investor and regulatory guidelines.Ensure compliance with all federal, state and company guidelines.Effectively communicate credit decisions and document needs to production staffMortgage Underwriter requirements:A minimum of 5 years' experience directly relating to first mortgage underwriting.Highly organized and able to prioritizeGood communication skills, both verbal and written.
