As a member of the Data Engineering Platform (DEP) team — the foundational layer of our platform — you will help build scalable backend services and developer tools that make it easier for teams across Apple to build and operate analytics pipelines efficiently. If you are passionate about data engineering, eager to grow, and excited about making a real impact at Apple scale — this is the role for you.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build scalable backend services that integrate big data technologies with microservices for real-time and batch data processingCollaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and improve platform capabilitiesContribute to the design of intuitive developer tools and automation systemsStay informed of industry trends and bring forward innovative ideasMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field3+ years of software engineering experience, with a solid foundation in building and shipping production-quality codeStrong proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, Go, or ScalaUnderstanding of data engineering fundamentals including data pipelines, batch processing, and real-time data streamingHands-on experience designing and building backend services and APIsWorking knowledge of distributed systems and big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, or HadoopExposure to AI-driven development practices with a genuine enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools to improve engineering productivity and code qualityA curious, self-driven mindset with a strong interest in how AI is shaping the future of software and data engineeringStrong problem-solving ability with a collaborative approach to working across teamsClear and concise communicator who can translate technical concepts for diverse audiencesPreferred QualificationsHands-on experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, or AirflowSome exposure to microservices architecture and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or AzureFamiliarity with data orchestration frameworks and pipeline management tools such as Airflow or PrefectBasic experience with containerization tools such as Docker and KubernetesAwareness of data quality, observability, and monitoring concepts in data pipelinesSome exposure to developer tooling, internal platforms, or automation scriptingAbility to ramp up quickly, take ownership of tasks, and contribute meaningfully in a collaborative team environmentPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
