Civil Project Manager - Charlotte, NC

Purpose To execute projects using administration, technical, and management techniques to ensure successful completion on time and within allocated budget. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Receive broad guidance from senior‑level management on key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy matters, and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution and review staff work for quality assurance. At The Operational and Company Level Assist with marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients. Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements. Drive the profitability and growth of projects. Do the Work Develop complex projects, finalizing scope, preparing bid summaries, budgets, and cost estimates. Perform day‑to‑day project management on multiple projects to meet time and budget milestones. Prepare and direct design, specification, plans, estimates, and reports for projects. Review job cost sheets and prepare monthly billings, ensuring projects stay within budget. Monitor work‑in‑process, billings, and accounts receivable collection efforts. Maintain healthy client relationships and provide operational insight for project delivery. Resolve project questions, technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries. Assist with marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings. Support team leader in securing repeat business and identifying new clients. Supervise project personnel to ensure professional standards. Liaise with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and design teams. Review project changes, contract alterations, and other factors affecting staffing or budget. Provide technical assistance for design problems, field investigations, detailed design work, and coordination. Success Metrics and Competencies Work both independently and within a team environment. Show proven marketing and business‑development skills. Collaborate well across offices and facilitate agreements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related discipline. Registered Professional in field of expertise strongly preferred. At least eight years of civil engineering experience with a minimum of three years of assistant project management experience. Experience in land development engineering, including residential and commercial developments. Thorough understanding of municipal codes and regulations. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC‑HMS, HEC‑RAS preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Projects). Experience with storm‑drain modeling and Rational Method hydrologic calculations. Experience with open channel and detention basin modeling and design. Experience with HEC‑RAS modeling and CLOMR/LOMR applications and processing. Experience researching zoning, development standards, review processes, compliance matters, regulations, and standards. Ability to write reports, prepare narratives, development applications, submittal documents, and response letters. Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds. Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds. Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder level.
