This travel temporary assignment is for a Progressive Care Unit / Step Down within a medical/surgical inpatient service. The role emphasizes monitoring and caring for patients who are hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable and do not require ICU transfer, with opportunities to participate in discharge planning and patient/family education.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients on the medical/surgical unit who do not require ICU transfer
- Monitor patients post-op, including post-PCI care, pacemaker placement, revascularization, and other complex surgical services as appropriate
- Manage invasive and noninvasive monitoring: central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple IVs, and ventilatory support (invasive and noninvasive) including CPAP/BiPAP support
- Operate advanced medical equipment and perform skilled assessments to detect potential deterioration, implementing established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Perform and coordinate discharge planning, including patient and family education and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
- Act as a clinical leader, assist with precepting staff, and provide direct care from admission through discharge
- Communicate with providers, the charge nurse, and leadership; provide guidance to RN, LPN, CNA, dietary, and ancillary staff as needed
- Collaborate with the Medical/Surgical unit and other departments to ensure safe, effective patient care delivery

Requirements
- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program; active Montana RN licensure
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Montana RN license; BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required (or obtained within 6 months of hire); TNCC/EPNC certification preferred but not required
- Experience/Skills: Knowledge of basic office equipment and IV pump operation; ability to operate advanced medical equipment including invasive lines, A-lines, chest tubes; competency in telemetry and EKG interpretation
- Specialization: Pediatric experience preferred but not required; prior post-heart catheterization or post-op vascular surgery experience is a plus
- Ability: Capable of functioning effectively in a progressive care setting and adapting to variable patient needs in a high-acuity inpatient unit
